Nas Ordered To Pay $55k in Support for Kelis and Child

Just a day after the estranged couple welcomed their son Knight into the world, a Los Angeles judge has ordered Nas to start paying over $55,000 a month in spousal and child support. The verdict was put in place until a September 8 hearing, when a judge will again review the monetary stipulations. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger also ruled that Nas will have to pay Kelis’ $45,000 lawyer and forensic accountant fees. Nas’ lawyer Mark Kaplan requested that Kelis be paid a $20,000 payment until the September hearing, but Judge Meisinger argued that the singer was entitled to maintain her marriage lifestyle, and that the monetary judgment was commensurate with the two parties’ income filings. In addition, Kelis will have 30 days to decide whether to return to the couple’s Los Angeles property, which Nas is paying for. Kelis’ high-powered divorce attorney Laura Wasser defended the ruling, stating that Kelis’ income has significantly dropped this year(allhiphop).

Making it rain gone wrong, staring Pacman Jones ,Nelly & Dupri

The just released amateur video shed more light on the 2007 Las Vegas strip club incident that resulted in the NFL suspension of Adam “Pacman” Jones, and three other individuals getting shot. This video, will be used in the attempted murder trial of accused shooter Arvin Edwards. The video shows Jones and Nelly throwing thick wads of cash (“making it rain”) at the various money hungry strippers in the venue.Rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri took the mic to keep things in order but it later got out of hand. When fellow rapper Nelly noticed he was being video, he motioned the cameraman to move away from him.Due to his unemployment ,rumors have it that if pacman thinks he is going to be back in the NFL soon,he should think again because this video puts the nail in the coffin.

Ace hood drops album #2 - RUTHLESS

Ace hood, the young florida-based rapper just dropped his second album in the same year. When asked about his thoughts of this second unit, Ace says..
"Relevance…just staying relevant you know what I’m saying? Out of sight, out of mind. If you not heard about and nobody doesn’t know about you, you got to pursue it all because people will forget your name. Me being a new artist I got to stay in the people’s eye as much as possible, just because artists come and go. We just here for the longevity and we desperate to hit the stage so at the end of the day, an album is always needed. Something fresh, something new…people are always open to get new music"(allhiphop).
Sales of this unit wasn't the best for him, he managed to push 19,700 units, first week sales according to Soundscan. When asked whether it's because of the media frenzy around Michael Jackson's death or is it because it's underpromoted, this was his remarks...
"As far as Michael Jackson goes, I actually do feel it had a little something to do with it in a way. Just because I was looking at like iTunes and ratings and stuff like that. But I’m humble, I’m thankful for the numbers I did. It’s hard out there selling records so just to have a second album out is a blessing. Most artists don’t get there in five years, let alone in under one. It was rated well so, I ain’t mad. Just gonna keep grinding"(allhiphop).
The florida-based rapper stays optimistic about sales and tells his fans and haters to go get the album since it's a classic album.

Nia Long disses non-acting actors that sing..

Actress Nia Long takes shots at non-acting actors that sing now...here is what she had to say..
“I didn’t see ‘Obsessed,’ so I can’t comment, but it’s just not about how talented you are anymore. It’s about, ‘How much box-office revenue will this person generate?’ When you see certain people – we won’t name names – they just don’t have the skill, and no one in their team has said, ‘You need acting classes’…“If you take time to develop your craft, God bless you. Jamie Foxx is an example of both [actor and singer].

"With 30 mil sold, where's the f---ing gratitude?/ I see all these little BG's/Mean muggin' on the screen trying to be me/I'm much more than 6-4's/Gun talk, chronic leaves and thick h-es/That's why most of them have come and went/I just re-coupe, re-create and re-invent"(The Boombox). Jay Z tops hip-hops money makers spot.

Hip-hop mogul Jay Z tops Forbes' Hip-Hop Cash Kings list knocking last year's king fifty cent out of the top spot. "Hova raked in a reported $35 million starting in June 2008, from touring and other business ventures. Although his earnings were down substantially from last year's $85 million, he still managed to edge out fellow mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, who came in at No. 2, with $30 million. Third place went to Kanye West with a respectable $25 million, earned through profits from his '808's and Heartbreaks' album and 'Glow In The Dark' tour. 50 Cent landed at No. 4 with approximately $20 million, a steep drop from $100 million in 2007. Singer/producer Akon tied with 50 at $20 million, mostly from his lucrative Konvict Music label, which is home to artists like T-pain and Lady gaga . Rounding out the top five is Lil wayne at $18 million due in part to the success of 'The Carter III' but mainly from touring profits. Other notables were super-producers Timbaland , who came close to Wayne with $17 million, and Pharrell at $16 million. Rapper Eminem re-emerged in the Top 10 with $14 million following the release of his top-selling 'Relapse' album"(The Boom Box). The rest of the list proves that rappers are making a great deal of money doing things that have nothing to do with actual rapping.

Lil Wayne seeks help from ex FBI

Gangsta rapper and the G-man? It's not your usual hip-hop double bill, but Grammy-sweeping rap artist Lil' Wayne is hoping a former FBI geneticist will get him off the hook for the .40-caliber semiautomatic cops grabbed from his tour bus near Columbus Circle two years ago.Weezy has hired Bruce Budowle in hopes of challenging the DNA test that matched him to cells swabbed off the gun.Budowle is set to argue that, with too few cells to test conventionally, Manhattan prosecutors relied instead on a problematic test called low copy number typing, according to court papers.

Ex badboy rapper LOON converts to islam.

The Ecstatic, is it Mos Def's best work???....

Mos Def’s last album was two and a half years ago called the True Magic, but the rapper/actor, born Dante Smith, returns to Hip-Hop after his lengthy sabbatical. His return comes in the form of his newest album The Ecstatic, his fourth solo album. At this point, Mos is an acquired flavor of Hip-Hop that one hopes will pierce the trappings of traditional media and commercially tinged outlets. The Ecstatic album is set to bring the balance so needed in Hip-Hop, but its redeeming value is so much more. The first track on the album, “Supermagic,” displays the lyrical power of Mos Def’s distinctiveness, his nasal voice is evident over the guitar riff. He’s got that brooklyn bluster, but offers a unique conscious and educational perspective that seems original, nearly formless. From this moment on, there is no doubt that Mos Def is back reppin' BK to the fullest. The album overwhelmingly demonstrates Mos Def’s ability to weave tales and project his ideals. One such song is “Wahid,” which is laced with Muslim musical sentiments.Even for the fan, Mos will probably make you retrain your Hip-Hop ear, because he’s unique. His style is demonstrated on other songs like the boom bap of “Twilite Speedball,” the minimalist “Quiet Dog Bite Hard,” and the thought provoking track, “Priority.”There are some instances where you want more from Mos – more energy, more engagement – as it’s the case with “Pretty Danger.” More than anything, absorbed listeners will appreciate risks like “Roses” with Georgia Anne Muldrow, which clearly indicate that Mos Def is operating on a plane reserved for passengers like Andre 3000, Lauryn Hill and others. If you are not a fan of Mos Def, it is unlikely that his new album The Ecstatic will yank you into his universe, but if the casual listener does venture out, they will likely stay on this flight into the stars.
